(including Nourish: the future of food in healthcare) and Renew, the Foundation’s green economy and climate initiative. Beth holds a BA from the Liberal Arts College of Concordia University (Montreal) and an MSc in Rural Economics from Université Laval (Quebec City). Her Masters research focused on food security and dietary diversity in rural Lebanon, where she lived for five years.
Beth is a co-founder of Equiterre, one of Canada’s leading environmental organizations, where she acted as director and sustainable agriculture program coordinator. Previous to working at the McConnell Foundation, she led Greenpeace Canada’s Oceans campaign, working with major Canadian supermarkets to develop sustainable seafood policies and practices. She has authored numerous articles, reports and guides, including feature articles in Beirut’s The Daily Star; Hungry for Justice: A Montreal Guide to Socially Responsible Food Choices and Out of Stock Supermarkets and the Future of Seafood. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security and the Academy for Systems Change. She normally lives in Montreal with her partner and two teenagers; she has spent 2019-2020 on sabbatical in France where among other things she keeps a blog: vudici.blog.
