Bob Carey is the Strategic Partnership Director for The Nature Conservancy in Washington. He is the founder and leader of the Floodplains by Design initiative – a groundbreaking effort focused on building community and ecosystem resilience by breaking down systemic barriers and enabling people to work in more collaborative and innovate ways. Throughout his conservation career, Bob has focused on empowering communities, building partnerships and crafting innovative solutions to address environmental challenges.  

Bob is a devoted husband and father, dedicated to the pursuit of inter-generational equity, most fully himself with a pack on his back or skis on his feet, and rarely accused of acting his age. He feels privileged to be part of the Academy – an extraordinary community of global change-makers.
