Kennedy Peace is a rising senior strategic communications major, leadership studies minor, with a 3.87 GPA. Kennedy hails from the keystone state and currently resides in the small town of Chalfont. She is currently working toward her Bachelor of Arts degree at Hampton University, located in Hampton, Virginia, with an expected graduation date of May 2021. Post-graduation, Kennedy aims to pursue her Master of Science in Strategic Communications at Columbia University in the city of New York.
Throughout her matriculation at Hampton, she has created and edited visual media content such as videos, magazine covers, brand kits, websites, and social media campaigns. She is proficient in social media outlets such as Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Professionally, her experiences have allowed her to expand her knowledge in the area of communications. Kennedy has previously worked as a brand marketing intern for the global healthcare company Novo Nordisk. Organizationally on Hampton’s campus, Kennedy has been a member of the Resident Assistant Association for two years. She also serves as the current Vice President of the William R. Harvey Leadership Institute, a 400-hour service internship program. The program emphasizes integrity, honesty, respect for others, decency, dignity, and responsibility. In addition, Kennedy has played soccer for 17 years and is currently a member of the Hampton University Women’s Soccer team. Her involvement in various organizations has fostered her development of skills such as communication, time management, teamwork, and initiative.
In her free time, Kennedy also enjoys cooking, writing, and spending time with her family. Kennedy values giving back and prioritizing others by serving her community in any way she can. Through her initiative “R.E.A.D.Y.,” reading, educating, and developing youth, she plans on creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with students to promote personal growth and support educational environments that encourage children to thrive. Kennedy recognizes that literacy is the essential foundation of education and can give children the confidence and competence to excel academically. Kennedy lives by the quote “Be a voice, not an echo” because it reminds her to be original and to step out of her comfort zone. The quote also serves as a reminder for her to not just imitate what is popular to be accepted but to be true to her authentic self.
