John Ellington is the Director of Finance and Grants Administration for The Home Depot Foundation, focusing on solving issues around veteran housing and responding to natural disasters.  His career with The Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, started in 2005 in corporate finance and strategic business management before joining The Home Depot Foundation in 2016 in his current capacity.

Prior to joining The Home Depot, John spent four years at Ernst & Young in a variety of roles within their Atlanta office.

A native of the Acadiana region of southern Louisiana, John attended the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting and minor in Economics from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA.  He proudly serves in The Foundation in honor of his late father, a veteran of the Vietnam War.

John lives in Atlanta with his wife and son.
